Production Statistics for the First Seven Months of 2015

 

At the end of July 2015, the area dedicated to tiger shrimp farms (Penaeus monodon) in all of Vietnam was 574,000 hectares, up 4.5% from the same period in 2014, and production was estimated at 131,000 metric tons, down 3.7%.  In the Mekong Delta, the area dedicated to tiger shrimp farms was 540,400 hectares, up 2.5% from the same period in 2014, and production was estimated at 124,000 tons, down 8.1%.  Decreases in yields occurred in Ca Mau (13.5%), Kien Giang (3.3%) and Ben Tre (9.7%) provinces.

 

At the end of July 2015, the area dedicated to white shrimp farms (P. vannamei) in all of Vietnam was 45,600 hectares, down 23.2% from the same period in 2014, and production was 118,900 tons, down 11.6%.  In the Mekong Delta, the area dedicated to white shrimp farms was 39,100 hectares, yielding 84,900 tons.  The area dedicated to white shrimp farms in Ben Tre Province shrank by 12.4% and production dropped 17.2%.  In Bac Lieu Province, the farming area fell by 38.1% and production fell by 15.3%.
