Processors Relying on Imports of Farmed Shrimp from India

Vietnam’s imports of unprocessed shrimp have increased, reaching $476 million in 2014, up 8.5-fold from four years earlier, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).  In the first quarter of 2015, Vietnam spent $106 million on imports of raw shrimp.  Over the last few years, India has been the leading supplier of unprocessed shrimp to Vietnam, accounting for close to 70% of Vietnam’s imports.
