Texas—Austwell Aqua Farm For Sale

Granvil Treece (email gdtreece@hotmail.com), a shrimp farming consultant in Texas, reports that Austwell Aqua Farm is for sale.  Built in 1995, the farm has been profitable for many years, and now owner Charles Chan, who lives on-site, is ready to retire.

From 1996 to 2007, the farm produced marine shrimp (Penaeus vannamei), and in 2008, it switched to catfish and tilapia.

The farm has  20 ponds: 12 are 5 acres and the others are either smaller or larger.  The ponds have an automated oxygen monitoring system that turns paddlewheels on and off automatically and sends all the data to the office, a two-story building overlooking the farm.

The asking price for the farm is $2.3 million.   Feed silos, permits, office and housing are included.  It is very rare to find Texas coastal property for sale that does not have hotels or some other commercial venture on it.

Historical Production Data: Available upon requested from Treece and Associates (below).
