New Mexico–New Mexico Shrimp Company

New Mexico Shrimp Company, which got started with an experiment to determine if cottonseed could be used in shrimp feeds, plans to purchase 12.5 acres in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to develop a shrimp farm.  Production is expected to begin at roughly 10,000 pounds of shrimp per year.  Backers—public and private—hope to begin operations by May 2015, with product coming to market roughly five months later.
