Iowa—Sherlock Shrimp’s Shrimp Academy

Sherill Ryan (sherillynn@yahoo.com), co-owner of Sherlock Shrimp, a 40-tank, indoor shrimp farm in Ridgeway, Iowa, reports: The next Shrimp Academy will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016.

Ryan, says, “We have a fantastic lineup of topics and speakers with the primary focus on recirculating aquaculture.  Dr. Andrew Ray will be joining us from Kentucky State University.  He will be our keynote speaker.  Dr. Ray will be giving three different talks to help us really get a working grasp on issues surrounding biofloc and recirculating tanks.”

Dr. Rod McNeil joins us again to discuss ‘Disease versus Chemistry’.  He will provide helpful hints on differentiating between the two.”

Other talks will cover aeration systems and the possibility of a shrimp hatchery in Iowa.

The “Academy” will be held at the Ridgeway Community Center (2 blocks from Sherlock Shrimp).  After the presentations, there will be a tour of Sherlock’s tiered system.

For lunch, Chef Matt Brown will dazzle the attendees with his culinary creations made from Sherlock Shrimp.  He’ll provide some tips for preparation and serving that you can use in your marketing.
