Florida—Red Lobster’s Big Shrimp Festival

 

   

 

Red Lobster restaurants, which Darden Restaurants recently sold (July 2014) to Golden Gate Capital, a privately held company headquartered in San Francisco, for $2.1 billion, has started a new promotion—the Big Shrimp Festival—featuring “some of the largest shrimp ever offered on the menu.”  The new items include Crispy Tempura Shrimp, Extra Jumbo Spicy Sriracha-Grilled Shrimp, Ultimate Shrimp Scampi Pasta, Brown Butter Shrimp, Extra Jumbo Garlic-Grilled Shrimp and Parrot Isle Jumbo Coconut Shrimp.  During the Big Shrimp Festival, the Florida-based chain will offer two of the selections for $15.99 or three for $19.99.  The plates come with a fresh salad and unlimited Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

 

   

 

Red Lobster, with around 700 restaurants, probably sells more shrimp than any other restaurant company in the United States.  Its shrimp sales dwarf its lobster sales.

 

“We’ve captured the pure joy of eating seafood that our guests experience in our restaurants,” said Mark Gilley, Red Lobster’s senior vice president of marketing.  “The campaign shows our guests some of the delicious ingredients in our recipes and is intended to get them excited to come in and try the new flavors in our jumbo shrimp dishes available during the Big Shrimp Festival.”
