Shrimp Prices

In Thailand, Penaeus vannamei prices have risen over the last few weeks, as processors attempt to secure enough whole shrimp to fill pending orders.  Thai seafood company Siam Canadian’s website says strong demand is not being met with adequate supplies.  “Many processors are absorbing cost differences in order to maintain workable...prices.  ...Processors are hoping raw material prices will eventually come down when supply improves, and/or when the majority of the orders are...shipped....”

At the beginning of August 2015, the price of 60-count, head-on shrimp was $6.13 to $6.27 a kilo, up from $5.90 to $6.13 during the last week of July.  Seventy-count were $5.90 to $6.01 a kilo, up from $5.77 to $5.96.
