New Device Tests for EMS/AHPND in Thirty Minutes

 

Summary: This article describers a portable, on-site, EMS/AHPND detection device with accompanying polymerase chain reaction assays that can quickly identify EMS/AHPND markers and the associated plasmid and toxin 1 gene in shrimp, water, live feed or other sources.  The device contains rechargeable batteries and delivers its results in about 30 minutes.
