Myanmar

Video—Crab Farm

This two-minute video, which begins with a statistical report on shrimp and prawn farming in Myanmar, focuses on a 243-acre, highly automated, soft-shell crab farm in Myanmar that produces 600 metric tons annually, mostly for export at $16 a kilogram to Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan and Singapore.  The crabs are maintained in long rows of floating boxes that are maneuvered under a dock for maintenance and harvesting.  The video also shows the processing and packing of the crabs.
