Four New Farms Will Produce 100,000 Metric Tons by 2020

 

   

 

Sabah, a province in East Malaysia, is expected to produce over $800 million worth of white shrimp when four new farms reach full capacity in 2020.

 

Sabah Agriculture and Food Industries Assistant Minister Datuk Sairin Karno said the farms invested $329 million in their projects.

 

The four farms are Sunlight Inno Seafood, Sdn., KB Aquaculture, Pegagau Aquaculture, Sdn., Bhd., and QL Aquamarine, Sdn., Bhd.  KB Aquaculture is ready to begin production while the three others are still being developed.

 

Sabah produced white shrimp worth $87 million in 2014, up 38 percent from 2013.  In 2015 Sabah expects to produce 30,000 metric tons of shrimp.
