Minnesota—Ralco/trū Shrimp Edging Closer to First Farm

The city of Marshall, Minnesota, is considering an ordinance change that would add indoor shrimp farming to the list of approved uses for land zoned as “agricultural”.  The ordinance change will be introduced to the city council on May 9, 2017, and will be limited to shrimp raised in tanks.

trū Shrimp Systems, a division of Minnesota-based Ralco Nutrition, which has been in the livestock feed business for more than 40 years, hopes to begin construction of a shrimp farm in Marshall in the spring of 2018.
