National Prawn Company Changes Its Name
to National Aquaculture Group

To reflect its diversification into fish farming ("Red Sea Barramundi") and other aquaculture species ("Red Sea, Sea Cucumbers"), National Prawn Company, one of the largest shrimp farms in the world, has changed its name to National Aquaculture Group (NAQUA), making it the largest vertically integrated, marine aquaculture operation in the world, employing over 2,500 people from over 32 countries, and capable of producing 100,000 metric tons of seafood a year.  It has its own power plant, feed mill (producing up to ten metric tons of feed an hour) and processing plant—plus schools, a laundry, tailor shop, cafeteria, supermarkets and entertainment centers.

Covering an area of approximately 250 square kilometers on the Red Sea, NAQUA has 16 shrimp farms and 3 fish farms. Each of the fish farms consists of 14 to 24 circular cages and can produce 6,500 metric tons of fish.

Its shrimp hatchery can produce 5.5 billion nauplii and 2.5 billion postlarvae a year, and its 4,177 hectares of shrimp ponds along 65 kilometers of coastline are capable of producing 35,000 metric tons of shrimp a year, between 120 and 140 tons a day.  From harvest to processing takes less than four hours, and its plant can process up to 140 metric tons of shrimp a day.

NAQUA aims for total customer satisfaction through 100% compliance to all local and global standards on food safety and environmental protection. It maintains high levels of product safety and sustainability at all stages of its operations.
