Seafarms Secures Site for Processing Plant

Seafarms’ $1.5 billion Sea Dragon Project has taken another step forward in the development of its gigantic Penaeus monodon farm in northern Australia by securing a 52-hectare site for a processing plant in Kununurra, Western Australia, just across the border from its farm site in the Northern Territory.  It has entered into a long-term lease agreement for the site, which includes a land-purchase option once certain capital improvements have been made.  The site, less than a 30-minute drive from Kununurra, is large enough to enable staged expansion of the processing facility.  Initial capacity of the plant will be 140 tons daily, expandable up to 420 metric tons a day.
