The After Effects of the Whitespot Outbreak

Prices for wild-caught, king shrimp hit $38 per kilo.  On average, shrimp are selling for about $3.83 more per kilogram than last year.  Other factors have also contributed to the spike in prices.  As a result of the whitespot outbreak, the Federal Government enforced strict screening of shrimp imports (reducing supplies), and the fishing industry had fewer boats on the water this year.
